Grades 6-8 Admissions

St. Aloysius has separate-gender middle schools located in two different sites. We enroll 60 girls in grades 6 through 8 in the Sister Thea Bowman middle school. We enroll the same number of boys in the St. Aloysius Gonzaga middle school for grades 6 through 8.

St. Aloysius does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, or national and ethnic origin in administration of educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

Applications are accepted for 6th and 7th grades only. We do not accept incoming 8th grade students.

Preference is given to families who meet St. Aloysius household income guidelines; families must complete PSAS to determine financial eligibility. All families with students applying for 6th grade in the Bowman and Gonzaga programs, who were previously at a public school, must apply for the Cardinal's Scholarship Program. Students applying for 7th grade are not eligible.

The admissions process begins each year in February with the St. Aloysius student application and PSAS financial application. The process includes a holistic assessment of your child's readiness for our Bowman and Gonzaga programs. This assessment includes testing, interview, and successful completion of summer school/camp.

St. Aloysius's middle schools accept students of all academic abilities, even those with past academic failure. The most important factor for enrollment is attitude...towards one's studies, one's teachers, and one's peers. In order to assess each child's attitude, youngsters applying for middle school enrollment are required to attend summer programs, including summer school and sleep-away summer leadership camp. These summer programs offer an ideal setting for assessing student attitudes; they offer students many opportunities to face new challenges and experience new activities - academic, social and athletic/recreational.

Should your child successfully complete testing and the interview, s/he will be invited to register for the coming school year. There is a $100.00 registration fee. Once the fee is paid, the child's seat in the class will be held until the first tuition payment is made.
