Student Support
St. Aloysius students benefit from an array of services that support those struggling academically, as well as those contending with challenging family/personal issues.
As part of the Federal Title I program, St. Aloysius students have access to the services of two teachers. One teacher provides remedial instruction in reading, the other in math. Title I also funds a school counselor who provides one-on-one sessions with struggling students.
St. Aloysius is also fortunate to offer students counseling services from a graduate student earning a psychology degree at Fordham University.
St. Aloysius's support services even extend to alumni in high school. Through the High School Support Program, alumni in high school have access to financial aid, tutoring, counseling, opportunities for community service, a variety of alumni clubs and activities, internships, job training, and SAT preparation classes. The school also assists graduates in researching and applying for college, even making some visits to college campuses. St. Aloysius works collaboratively with a number of organizations, such as Goddard Riverside Community Center, and requires students to utilize their OPTIONS Center for Educational and Career Choice. Students receiving financial aid for their high school education must maintain at least a C average and give at least 40 hours of volunteer service at St. Aloysius each year.
